Managing for Good Mental Health
Thursday 15th October 2026, 9:30am-12:30pm
Good people management is beneficial for the individual, team, and the business. Sometimes this can be challenging for managers, particularly when issues arise that require extra sensitivity.
This course equips managers with the confidence, skills, and knowledge to manage mental health in their teams. This workshop will be led, in person, by Abigail Hirshman, director of the Workplace Programme at the Charlie Waller Trust office in Newbury and can hold a maximum of 12 people - this is a free workplace mental health workshop available for Berkshire’s charity and voluntary sector.

Managing for Good Mental Health: Creating Healthy Boundaries
Tuesday 17th November 2026, 9:30am – 11:30am
This course explores stress and burnout, providing practical strategies for managing stress and preventing burnout in the workplace.
This online workshop will be led by Dr Mike Oliver, a chartered psychologist and registered health psychologist. This online workshop is available for Berkshire’s charity and voluntary sector.
Programme:
Recognise what stress is and what is burnout.
Explore boundaries and the role they play in stress management.
Use the Workplace Action Plan for Stress Management.
Outcomes:
Techniques for setting, communicating and enforcing boundaries.
An increased understanding of boundaries in working relationships.
Be equipped with techniques to look after your own wellbeing.

Understanding Neurodiversity
Tuesday 19th January, 2027 9:30am-11:30am
This course explores the complex topic of neurodiversity to gain a better understanding of what neurodiversity is and how it relates to us all. It introduces some of the main neurodivergent identities and neurotypes, and examines how they can influence the way people think, learn, communicate, process information, and interact with the world. The course also considers the strengths and skills these differences bring and how they shape our workforces to better embrace diversity and enable workplaces to be more accommodating.
This online workshop will be delivered by Natalie Treacher, an experienced trainer and health promotion specialist. This online workshop is available for Berkshire’s charity and voluntary sector.
Programme
Understand what it means to be “neurodivergent”.
What the spectrum looks like.
A deeper understanding of specific neurotypes.
Outcomes
Recognise the normal range of neurocognitive variation and the strengths and challenges they bring.
How to avoid discrimination against neurodivergent colleagues.
How to the workplace can adapt to be more inclusive of neurodivergent employees.

Understanding Menopause in the Workplace: Managers session
Thursday 11th February 2027 10:00am - 12:00pm
This session focuses on breaking the silence around menopause, helping to understand that it is not just a women’s issue.
We explore the importance of having appropriate policies in place to support anyone going through it and how managers can confidently discuss the topic. By raising awareness, we aim to foster understanding that symptoms vary in severity and ensure workplaces provide the right support for all.

Dispelling common myths about menopause.
Understanding the impact of menopause in the workplace.
Developing confidence in having conversations about menopause.
